Racing season 2005
In the 2005 season, the Italian Endurance Championship (formerly Racing Boat Cup) was announced with a new regulation that does not provide for a single winner, based on the performance index, but an overall winner for each category. The rankings are obtained by adding the scores acquired in the various races held, such as: the classic Raid Pavia-Venezia, some tests on circuits of length between 3000 and 4000 meters and the newly created Raid Cremona-Borgoforte (MN).
In the racer class (which participates in the Italian Endurance Championship) the novelty is represented by the debut of a new hydroplane brought to the race by the Brescian driver Antonio Cambieri. This hull is the work of the Reggio Emilia builder and preparer Treves, who took inspiration for the construction from the American boats of the Battaglini brothers used in the two-year period 1999 - 2000. After some tests and after having made the first official outings in the race, this vehicle proved to be fast on the straight, but in difficulty when tackling turns, or rather the exact opposite of what should happen.
In this first edition of the Italian Endurance Championship, the winner of the title in the racer class is the gritty driver from Parma Paolo Ferrari who has a Lucini and Frigerio-Alfa Romeo 2000 cc three-point hull. A rather dated complex but completely restored and therefore still capable of performing well.
