Racing season 1997-1998

These are two seasons that prove to be lacking in content and in which the lack of a national racers championship persists.
Interest thus remains focused on the road race par excellence, the Raid Pavia-Venezia, where at least a fair number of inboarders can line up at the start. Both editions (57th and 58th) of the aforementioned years record two important victories for the racers' hulls.

In 1997, the overall record was achieved by Giuseppe Sterza from Pavia with a time of 2h 06' 53" (167.871 Km/h average) who "dusted off" the glorious R°° E.Molinari-BPM already used by the other Pavia driver Annibale Beltrami (winner of this race way back in 1977).
Just 10 seconds behind Sterza we find Giorgio Lucchini from Luzzara on a DAC-Mercury catamaran from O3000. This is a very high-performance complex that, for having established the best average speed in the Revere-Pontelagoscuro sector (161.963 Km/h), won the Coppa d'Oro Theo Rossi di Montelera. Also authoritative was the third overall place by Romanello Balocchi, first in the 2000 cc Racer class with the four-point Clerici-BMW.

The following year saw the first success of Dino Zantelli who, with his 2000 cc racer, won with a not very high but still respectable average speed (137.950 km/h in 2h 34' 24"), also combining it with the Coppa Montelera (130.390 km/h) always calculated on the Revere-Pontelagoscuro stretch. A curiosity: due to a long series of excellent retirements, the three-point Lucini-Alfa Romeo of Zantelli is also the only Entrobordo Corsa to occupy one of the first ten absolute positions.
